Bio - Melissa A. Redrup - 7 Roger's Place

(from the 2004 Candidate Summaries)

My name is Melissa Redrup, my husband George and our two children, Jacquelyn (8) and Taylor-Rae (5) moved into Sawyer's Creek in November of 1999. We were one of the first five families to settle into - what was then - a very empty community. After working for 12 1/2 years as a Housing Specialist for the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). I resigned in 2002 in order to stay home with my young children.

After watching home ownership dues increase for five years, and seeing less and less progress being made (primarily due to an extremely slow beginning), I've decided to try and team up with the present board members to help get this development some of the basics, I feel, we are truly lacking.

Some of the areas I feel are of top priority are: the paving of the streets, the much needed entrance signs, and either speed bumps or speed limit signs. Excessive speed on these child-filled streets is a huge concern with my family and every parent I've talked to - specifically those who reside on some of the bigger or cut-thru roads, such as Huckleberry and Rogers.

GOALS: I feel the current board has made tremendous strides with serious issues, such as monitoring Mr. Messina to ensure he completes all necessary work, and the successful zoning change on vacant land located on Mt. Pleasant, which sits directly behind homes on Becky's Lane and Roger's Place. This zoning change stopped the storage facility that was to be built directly behind our homes. They have also been very successful in getting the community together with fun ideas such as the Easter Egg Hunt, Clean-up day, and the newsletter. If voted into office, I look forward to assisting the present board members in continuing to make Sawyer's Creek a better community for all of our families.
