Fall Festival Volunteers Opportunities

Volunteers are the unpaid heroes of any event. They can make or break a fun day for the family. If you are reading this then you just may be one of those heroes!

The Sawyers Creek Fall Festival is in need of a few different types of volunteer to make it happen. You decide your level of commitment. Firstly we really need a Project Manager one who is willing to lead this project in it's entirety. With a dozen volunteers it is quite doable with more it's even easier! The former project manager will meet with you and basically tell you everything that needs to be done. Finding a new location for the event would be the first step in the process. Hard to say the number of hours but just about the time it takes to throw a big party at your own home. Good thing is you won't have to cook and a group of people will help you clean up! It takes a bit of organizational attitude and a willingness to give up your entire Sunday Oct 5th. An additional two meetings with the volunteers beforehand, a shopping trip or two, a bunch of emails and phone calls, a few laughs and some prayers to the weather Gods would pretty much be the job description. You are the Game-Day Coordinator, Answerer-to-all-questions and Final-Sayer on Oct 5th. Any funds that you may put out will be 100% reimbursable from SCHOA. This will not cost you any money. It is fun to work with neighbors and friends. It is great to see everyone having fun in our neighborhood and you made it happen!

Pre-Game day Volunteers (3-4) - Meet with Project Manager to divvy up duties like whose house will be the registration drop off location, money handling, shopping, follow-up flyer distributer, baker coordinator. These volunteers need to be reliable, responsible people who are willing to have their neighbors drop money off to their front step and ask others to help bake cookies, cupcakes and need to be willing to put out funds that are reimbursable. The bulk of their responsibilities can be done before the event happens. So they can bring their families and enjoy the day.

Bakers - These volunteers are the pastry chefs in waiting! No really these are people that need to commit to making a couple dozen cupcakes, a few dozen brownies or whatever they think is yummy and will sell at a bake sale. They need to deliver their goodies to the site on the day of the event. SCHOA will sell these in an effort to defray some of the costs of the event.

Game Day Volunteers (As many as possible; at least 12) - Based on the types of events planned by the Project Manager there will need to be: Volunteers to Hold the Raffle, work the cotton candy stand, sell at the Bake sale and handle the money, coordinate the Hoop-it-up contest, work the free refreshment stands, help coordinate the craft and paint your own pumpkin, and other misc. tasks during the event.

Clean-Up Crew (As many as possible) - needed at 4pm on Oct 5th to break down tables, fold chairs, clean up all areas of the event, take down signs return anything that was borrowed from neighbors.

This project has been done in the past very successfully. If you have participated and enjoyed your day we would like others to have that chance too. Please volunteer your time, your baking skills or your skill at selling a raffle ticket. It is a feel-good event for those attending and for those who helped make it happen. The idea is to have an inexpensive fun filled day for families of our community at Sawyers Creek.

We will make our decision on SEPT 5th whether or not to cancel this year's event.

Please email treasurer@sawyerscreek.org as soon as possible with your name, phone number and address if you would like to help.
