SawyersCreek.org website hacked 19 March 2007

Tuesday, 20 March 2007, is the start of the Spring season, and I uploaded the version of the SawyersCreek.org stylesheet with spring colors. To check that the site now had spring colors instead of winter colors, I pointed my browser to the website - and found an incomplete homepage for Sports Nutrition Ireland.

Huh??

I was able to log into the SawyersCreek.org account with the web host's cPanel tool, and verified the files were still there. I wrote a support request to the webhost explaining the problem: I had thought perhaps the DNS servers had a problem.

I kept on investigating, and soon realized the SawyersCreek.org home page file had been replaced with the file for Sports Nutrition Ireland sometime on 19 March 2007, after 5pm. An easy enough fix: I re-uploaded the correct SawyersCreek.org home page file. I've also changed the site password to a more hack-proof one.

I regret the effective downtime of the website for about a day.
