Valentine Charm Pencil

Materials

• one foot of narrow ribbon (approx. 1/8" wide)
• new pencil (valentine design adds an added touch)
• four beads (we used 2 mini hearts and 2 round beads)
• scissors
• red card stock, red construction paper, OR red foam
• tacky glue
• marker or pen

Directions

1. Tie the ribbon around the top (near eraser) of the pencil and secure it with a tight double knot, leaving 2 fairly even ends.
2. Thread the beads onto one end of the ribbon, knot the end at the length you want, and trim.
3. Cut 2 identical hearts from the Red card stock, construction paper or foam. Glue the hearts together with the other half of the ribbon sandwiched inside. Knot and trim the ribbon.
4. Write a message on the heart.

TIP: If the ribbon slides down the pencil, dot some glue on the inside of the knot to keep it in place.
