New Washington Township Quality of Life Ordinances Approved

2004.12.30

The Washington Township council recently approved two ordinances aimed at improving residents' quality of life. The ordinances cover the following issues.

  • Creating protective zones around and regulating uses nearby the township's six shallow wellheads tapping into the Kirkwood-Cohansey aquifer;
  • Rezoning a 670-acre tract roughly bounded by Black Horse Pike and Tuckahoe, Hurffville-Cross Keys and Fries Mill roads, from commercial/industrial to mixed use.

A Courier-Post article by Lisa Grzyboski detailing the new ordinances is available for a limited time at www.courierpostonline.com/news/southjersey/m122304l.htm. Background on the rezoning issue is also available on the WTRBC website at www.wtrbc.org/rezoning.htm.
